Sprenger Solid Wood Bed Fürstenberg

The Sprenger solid wood bed Fürstenberg combines a sturdy frame of solid bog oak with a wide headboard whose upper edge is left natural. The frame stands on a recessed plinth, which makes it look slightly floating. Fürstenberg can be fitted with bedside tables, bed drawers and headboard lighting, and is aimed at people who want a versatile, configurable solid wood bed.

The essentials

• Solid wood bed made of bog oak
• Wide headboard with natural upper edge
• Sleeping area 140, 160 or 180 × 200 cm
• Outer frame dimensions 200, 220 or 240 × 216 cm
• Bedside tables with or without drawer, left, right or both sides
• Optional bed drawers on both sides and headboard lighting

Construction and materials

The frame of Fürstenberg is made of solid bog oak. The trees, which have grown for over 100 years, show cracks and a lively wood grain. The bed box rests on a narrower, recessed plinth. The headboard is wider than the bed; the optional bedside tables sit on its side extensions. With the backlighting, the headboard has a recessed strip of light. Bed drawers on both sides add storage beneath the sleeping area.

Who the Fürstenberg is for

Fürstenberg suits couples and single sleepers who want to adapt their bed to the room: with a simple bedside table or a bedside table with drawer, with storage beneath the sleeping area or without it. If you have little space for a chest of drawers in the bedroom, use the bed drawers. The bed is less suitable for narrow rooms, because the frame is 60 cm wider than the sleeping area, mainly because of the wide headboard.

Sizes and options

You choose the sleeping area 140 × 200, 160 × 200 or 180 × 200 cm; the outer frame measures 200, 220 or 240 × 216 cm. Bedside tables with and without drawer are each chosen for left, right, both sides or none. Headboard backlighting and drawers on both sides are each available with or without. Mattress and slatted frame are not included. A special made-to-measure version is available on request.

Care and warranty

Cracks in the wood are normal and a feature of the natural material, not a defect. Sprenger's care instructions for the bed, bedside tables and drawers are not available to us, and neither is any information on the warranty period. We will ask the manufacturer for both on your behalf before you order.

Our assessment

Fürstenberg is the right choice if you want a solid wood bed with many equipment options and additional storage. The wide headboard with its light strip becomes a calm focal point of the room. If you prefer a heavier bed made of visible beams, compare it with the Sprenger Brunhilde, with its interlocking beam corners.
