That is the result of the Swiss mattress test by SWISS BRAND OF THE YEAR 2025/26. Mattresses put to the test: what was the aim of the study?

Which is the best mattress in Switzerland? As part of the study "SWISS BRAND OF THE YEAR 2025/26 – Swiss Brand Monitor", the SIQT – the Swiss Institute for Quality Tests – set out to answer this question. An online survey covering various product areas was conducted for this purpose. In the product segments "mattresses", "box spring beds" and "slatted frames", BICO was compared with all well-known Swiss mattress providers. The aim of the study was a Switzerland-wide ranking on the criteria of quality, value for money and customer satisfaction. The results were meant to give consumers an overview of the Swiss mattress market.

How did the SIQT go about the mattress test?

For the Switzerland-wide online survey in August and September 2025, consumers between the ages of 18 and 80 were surveyed. In total, 510,000 individual ratings of 1,262 brands from 99 product segments went into the survey. 48.51 percent of respondents were female, 51.49 percent male. Only brands for which at least 100 ratings per question were submitted were included in the evaluation. In addition, only manufacturer brands were examined, and retailers' private labels were deliberately excluded.

To make a comparison across segments possible, the assessment criteria were reduced and three easily comparable scores were measured:

• Customer Satisfaction Score (KZS)
• Quality Score (QS)
• Value-for-Money Score (PLS)

Which questions were asked to determine the winner of the mattress test?

Since the various brands are so diverse, a scientific study is no easy task. To get clear answers from consumers and avoid misunderstandings, the online survey therefore opted for questions that were as simple as possible. The winner of the mattress test was accordingly determined using three questions – here with BICO as an example:

• How satisfied are you with BICO mattresses?
• How do you rate the mattress quality of BICO?
• How do you rate the value for money of BICO mattresses?

Which evaluation methods were used to determine the mattress test winner?

For the questions listed under point 3, consumers could give their rating on a scale of 1 to 10, with 1 representing the lowest rating (disastrous) and 10 the highest (outstanding). The scores were then calculated using the following formulas:

KZS = SUM (customer satisfaction ratings) / NUMBER (customer satisfaction votes)

QS = SUM (quality ratings) / NUMBER (quality votes)

PLS = SUM (value-for-money ratings) / NUMBER (value-for-money votes)

How did BICO perform in the Swiss mattress test?

Before we reveal the results, one thing is very important to us: the study is independent. The SIQT carried it out on its own initiative – just as, for example, Kassensturz or Stiftung Warentest do. The brands under review were therefore not involved.
