Finally Fall Asleep More Easily: 8 Tips for Restful Nights
By Deluxe Sleep · Published on · Updated on
Falling asleep cannot be forced – but you can create the right conditions for it. If you regularly find yourself lying awake at night, small changes to your routine and your bedroom often make all the difference. These eight tips have proven their worth:
- Consistent times: Go to bed at the same time every day and get up at the same time – even on weekends.
- Screens off: The blue light from phones and tablets slows the release of the sleep hormone melatonin. Spend the last hour before bed away from any display.
- Cool and dark: 16–18 °C and a well-darkened room are ideal for sleep.
- Watch caffeine and alcohol: Avoid coffee from the afternoon onwards; alcohol disrupts the deep-sleep phases.
- Evening ritual: The same routine every night – tea, reading, calm music – signals to your body that it is time to wind down.
- Don't lie awake: If you are not asleep after 20 minutes, get up briefly and do something quiet instead of tossing and turning.
- Move during the day: Regular exercise promotes sleep – but avoid intense sessions right before bedtime.
- The right bed: A suitable mattress and a good pillow relieve the tension in your body that makes falling asleep harder.
If Nothing Helps
If problems falling or staying asleep persist for weeks, it is worth seeking medical advice. Often, however, it comes down to a combination of habits and sleep environment – and that is exactly where improvement is easiest.
We would be delighted to show you in our showroom which mattress and which pillow can help you settle down faster and sleep more deeply.
