Sprenger Solid Wood Bed Brunhilde, Bog Oak

The Sprenger solid wood bed Brunhilde in bog oak is built from massive oak beams that visibly interlock at the corners. The headboard consists of four beams arranged offset from one another. For the side panels, you choose between bog oak and welded iron. Brunhilde is aimed at people with a large bedroom who want a solid, imposing bed made of natural wood.

Construction and materials

Brunhilde is made of solid bog oak beams. The trees have grown for over 100 years; cracks and a lively wood grain are typical of this wood. At the corners, the beams visibly interlock, and the worked end faces remain visible as a design feature. The side panels sit between the corner beams, either also in bog oak or as panels of welded iron. The headboard is built from four beams that are offset against one another. LED lighting on the headboard is available on request.

Who the Brunhilde is for

Brunhilde is intended for large bedrooms in which the bed is meant to be the centrepiece. With a sleeping width of 160 or 180 cm, it is particularly suited to couples. The version with iron parts suits a loft-style interior, while the version entirely in bog oak suits a rustic, warm room. It is less suitable for cramped rooms: the frame is 65 cm wider than the sleeping area and 220 cm long.

Sizes and options

You choose the sleeping area 160 × 200 or 180 × 200 cm. The outer frame measures 225 × 220 cm or 245 × 220 cm. The side panels are available in bog oak or welded iron, and the LED lighting on the headboard with or without. Mattress, slatted frame and decoration are not included. A special made-to-measure version is available on request.

Care and warranty

Cracks in the bog oak are part of the natural material and not a defect. No care instructions from Sprenger are available to us for the wood and iron parts, and we also do not know the warranty period. We will ask the manufacturer for both on your behalf before you order.

Our assessment

Brunhilde is the right choice if you want a bed with a strong presence and visibly interlocking beam corners. With the iron side panels it looks more angular; in pure bog oak it looks calmer. If you want a lighter-looking bed made of the same wood, compare it with the Sprenger beam bed on metal runners.
