About the brand
Velfont is the brand of VELAMEN, S.A.U., based in Barcelona (Spain) and founded in 1971. The VELFONT brand was created in 1976 with the first mattress cover and the first pillow cover. Velfont describes itself as an expert in textile products for protecting and equipping the bed; in 1994 the brand launched the first waterproof and breathable mattress protector in Spain.
At Deluxe Sleep you will find four Velfont products: the mattress protectors ECO AQUA, ECO SFERA and Mekong and the Viscofresh pillow. Aqua and Sfera belong to the Essentials series. Both are waterproof and hyper-breathable, act as a barrier against house dust mites and are made from recycled materials with GRS certification. The Sfera also has the antibacterial Sanitized® treatment.
The Mekong mattress protector from the Bamboo series has three layers: two outer layers of bamboo viscose enclose the Neotherm membrane, which is waterproof and breathable. Bamboo absorbs up to 6 times more moisture than cotton. Velfont mattress protectors are fitted like a fitted sheet and form a physical barrier against germs and bacteria.
The Viscofresh pillow from the thermoregulating series has a perforated viscoelastic core and a double cover of Outlast® cotton. The cover stores the heat the body gives off and releases it again, creating a constant microclimate.
Velfont requires its raw materials to be certified, including STANDARD 100 by Oeko-Tex® and the Global Recycled Standard (GRS). What is the difference between Aqua, Sfera and Mekong?
Aqua is made from recycled cotton (fabric 100 % cotton) with a polyurethane membrane. Sfera is made from recycled polyester and recycled cotton (fabric 77 % cotton, 23 % polyester) and has the antibacterial Sanitized® treatment. Mekong has three layers: two outer layers of bamboo viscose with the Neotherm membrane in between.
Are Velfont mattress protectors waterproof and breathable?
Yes. Aqua and Sfera are waterproof and hyper-breathable. On the Mekong the Neotherm membrane sits between two fabric layers; it acts as a physical barrier against liquids and mites and stops them reaching the mattress.
How do I wash Velfont mattress protectors and the Viscofresh pillow?
Aqua, Sfera and Mekong can be washed at up to 95 °C and tumble-dried at low temperature. For the Viscofresh pillow, wash the cover at up to 40 °C on a gentle cycle; the padding and inner fabric are not washable. The care instructions on the label apply.
How does the Viscofresh pillow work?
The core is made of perforated, high-density viscoelastic polyurethane and adapts to the shape of the neck; the perforation lets air circulate inside. The double cover of Outlast® cotton stores body heat and releases it again. The pillow has a medium to soft firmness and a zip.
Which certifications does Velfont hold?
Velfont works with STANDARD 100 by Oeko-Tex® (classes I and II) for textile products free of substances harmful to health and with the Global Recycled Standard (GRS) for the recycled origin of products. The company is also certified to ISO 9001:2015 (quality management) and ISO 14001:2015 (environmental management).
How much does delivery cost?
On orders of CHF 100 or more we deliver free of charge within Switzerland and to Liechtenstein to the kerbside; below that, standard shipping is CHF 8.90. Delivery into your home including assembly can be added as an option for a flat CHF 149 (not for orders that contain only pillows).
